Woman dies after crashing into commuter bus

By Cliff Pinckard, cleveland.comCANTON, Ohio — An 85-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after her vehicle crashed into the side of a SARTA bus, injuring several passengers on the bus, police said.According to a news release from Canton police, the crash occurred shortly after 1 p.m. in the area of Cleveland Avenue NW and 35th Street NW. A SARTA bus was traveling north on Cleveland Avenue NW when a 2007 Toyota Camry traveling west on 35th Street NW failed to stop at a stop sign.The Camry crashed into the passenger side of the bus, police said. The driver of the Camry, Dina Agelopoulos, was taken by ambulance to a hospital but she died of her injuries.The Canton Metro Crash Team responded and is investigating the crash. The driver of the SARTA bus was not injured in the crash. Several bus passengers were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.Drugs and alcohol are not suspected factors in the crash.Cliff Pinckard has been with The Plain Dealer/cleveland.com since 1999.
