Judge Anna Richardson said: “Rather than putting everyone through the additional trauma of a trial, you accepted responsibility. “You are someone who has over the last 18 months done what they needed to do to try and move forward. You need to continue to do that.” Bristol Crown Court was told that just after 7pm on the day of the horror, a neighbour heard someone screaming: “Get down, get down”. He went outside and then further heard a woman shout out: “She’s f***ing dead”. She was declared dead shortly after, while Reed suffered cuts and bruises after attempting to stop the attack. Prince, which belonged to Reed and her boyfriend, was sedated at the scene and later “humanely destroyed” The court was told Morgan had cocaine in her system which caused her to “act erratically”. Judge Richardson said: “Morgan’s behaviour was unusual… she began to scream upon seeing Prince, that led to him barking and ultimately to attack her.” In a victim impact statement, Morgan’s mum Marie Smith said: “She came to Bristol to experience something bigger than the small village she grew up in. Bristol with its vibrant lively culture would have suited her perfectly. “Her death has cast a shadow over everything… A life that should have been so much bigger and brighter.”
