(AP Photo/Eric Gay)(AP Photo/Eric Gay)Sammy Evans was concerned about a lump giving her discomfort under her ribs. It turns out the lump was a baby, which she delivered the next day. Evans, 41, of England appeared on the British TV show “This Morning” on ITV, she described the lump as feeling like a “fat tire” that came with other symptoms, according to People. Doctors initially looked for a hernia but also gave her a pregnancy test. The first test appeared negative, but there was a faint line on it. Her doctor recommended she take another test at home, and it came back positive.Evans, who previously had gastric bypass surgery that helped her lose 140 pounds, said she had not had her period for months but attributed it to her exercise routine, her age and her weight loss. That same night, Evans went to her water aerobics class, a routine she had long kept. Around 1 a.m., she felt pain in her abdomen. Evans initially thought the pain was period cramps, but as it intensified, her 10-year-old son offered to call for help. She eventually went to the hospital, where doctors gave her another test, which came back positive, leading them to perform a scan. The scan showed the pain was caused by a baby.Evans had experienced a cryptic pregnancy, a condition the Cleveland Clinic says occurs when a person does not realize they are pregnant until very late in the pregnancy or until labor begins. In Evans’ case, she was already in labor. She delivered her son, Noah, who weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce, and was healthy.Evans and her partner, Triston McKend, had talked about not having more children because she already had her son and he had a 16-year-old daughter. McKend, who was in Spain for his engineering job, and Evans are now celebrating the addition of their newborn son.Chris Franklin is an NFL reporter for NJ Advance Media, covering anything and everything that has to do with the team.
