Sign in to your ScreenRant account While it’s never recommended to bother looking too far ahead into the future of slated video game releases in order to protect your heart, CD Projekt Red’s Witcher and Cyberpunk IPs already have a fairly thorough outline of a roadmap to follow. For instance, a brand-new Witcher 3: Wild Hunt expansion will be released sometime in 2027; The Witcher 4 is planning to hopefully launch in 2028 and will begin a fresh trilogy for the series; a Witcher 1 remake is officially in development; and Cyberpunk 2 will launch sometime thereafter. That’s far more than we ought to know about CD Projekt Red’s future slate, and it’s certainly more than we know about games on the horizon from most other beloved AAA studios. However, that’s somehow not even all that’s on CD Projekt Red’s plate. Project Hadar is still shrouded in mystery, but fans who are eager to hear more about CD Projekt Red’s new upcoming IP might not have to wait as long as they thought. As per Biznes Pap, Project Hadar will be CD Projekt Red’s first fully proprietary IP, and has recently hit a huge development milestone amid everything else CD Projekt Red has going on. According to CEO of business joint Michał Nowakowski, the conceptual “world vision” stage has been completed, though the game—whatever it turns out to be—is incredibly early on in development: “This has been our biggest undertaking to date, taking us several years, but at this point we can say we have a coherent vision for this world and its key elements. The team has begun work on the game, although it's not yet in pre-production.” CD Projekt Red could’ve been content with fully devoting all its attention toward The Witcher and Cyberpunk for the remainder of its days, doubling down on two IPs—one fantasy and one sci-fi—that are now unbelievably popular and successful. For the studio to want to commit to a whole other IP, then, must guarantee that it is remarkably confident in it. With Project Hadar’s foundations established, it will probably still be quite a while until we hear about this new IP again, let alone receive an official reveal. Thankfully, CD Projekt Red should have no more lulls between its games if its allocation of development between every project it has cooking on the stovetop is as varied as it seems, and Project Hadar might arrive before you know it. CD Projekt Red is undoubtedly one of the busiest and most ambitious studios in AAA video games today, with Rockstar not even appearing to juggle more than two IPs. In fact, it’s unknown what Rockstar could possibly have planned to work on after the launch of Grand Theft Auto 6, other than a hypothetical Red Dead Redemption 3, whereas CD Projekt Red churning out Witcher games and possible expansions for the foreseeable future is only one portion of its current workload.
