William and Harry mark anniversary of mum Diana’s death privately as fans leave flowers at palace

PRINCES William and Harry remembered their mum Diana privately yesterday as well-wishers laid flowers on the 29th anniversary of her death in a Paris car crash. Sources for the brothers, who remain estranged, said they chose to mark the sombre occasion behind closed doors. They laid flowers at her grave on the estate’s Oval Lake. Earl Spencer marked the day by posting photos of Althorp with the flag flying at half mast and the words: “31 August. My least favourite day.” The Earl has written a book about his sister which will be published on September 22. Speaking earlier about his new book, the Earl said: “With the 30th anniversary of Diana’s tragic death on the skyline, I’ve been inundated yet again with requests for interviews about my sister. Most read in Royals “This has convinced me to write down my own thoughts and memories, once and for all, rather than having the discomfort of again reading the opinions of others, many of which are based on untruths that have become accepted over time. “The aim of this book is to tell the truth about Diana from her brother’s perspective, just as I attempted to do when speaking at her funeral.” Comment now
