Wildlife emergency ambulance launched in Chennai

Ranjith Kumar flagged off the vehicle at the Guindy Children’s Nature Park during the valedictory function of Wildlife Week 2026.The Minister also inaugurated a wildlife photography exhibition organised through the Tamil Nadu Wildlife Experiences Corporation (TNWEC) and released a standard operating procedure (SOP) document on monitoring sea turtles, their safe handling and release in appropriate coastal areas.State-level final rounds of the wildlife awareness quiz were also held for school students as part of the celebrations. Prizes and certificates were presented to winners of the painting and quiz competitions and the photography contest conducted for volunteers.The Minister also distributed equipment kits to snake rescuers registered through the ‘Nagam’ application to enable them to safely rescue snakes.Senior forest officials, including Additional Chief Secretary Usha Kakarla, PCCF (Head of Forest Force) A. Udayan, Chief Wildlife Warden Rakesh Kumar Dogra, and other officials participated in the event. Students, volunteers, frontline forest staff and members of the public also attended.
