Wife confronts husband over alleged affair, he attacks her with shaving blade

(Photo: Representational)A 35-year-old man allegedly attacked his wife with a shaving blade during a quarrel over his alleged affair with another woman in northeast Delhi’s Sunder Nagri, police said on Tuesday.The accused, identified as Majid Hussain, was arrested on charges of attempting to murder his wife. Police also recovered the blade allegedly used in the attack.The incident took place around 11 pm on September 13, when the couple got into an argument at their home, police said.According to the woman’s statement, her husband was allegedly having an affair with another woman and would frequently quarrel with and assault her. Around 15 days before the attack, she had left for her parental home in Loni with their three children following repeated disputes. Two days before the incident, Hussain and his father allegedly convinced her to return home. However, soon after she returned, another quarrel broke out between the couple, the woman told police.During the argument on September 13, Hussain allegedly attacked her with a shaving blade, causing multiple injuries to her mouth and throat. A PCR call was received at Nand Nagri police station around 11.40 pm reporting that a woman had allegedly been attacked on the neck by her husband. By the time police reached the spot, she had been taken to Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment.Police recorded her statement at the hospital and registered an FIR on September 14 under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to attempt to murder.A forensic team examined the crime scene and collected evidence. Hussain was subsequently apprehended and allegedly confessed to the attack during questioning, police said.
