ZOE Sugg and Alfie Deyes have been copping heat from fans for months since disappearing online at the start of the year – but now an unearthed video from last Christmas has seen the backlash reach fever pitch. The YouTube OGs’ loyal fan base are fuming after rediscovering a clip the pair posted during their ‘Vlogmas’ series last festive season, where they appeared to foreshadow their online vanishing act and even admitted that they knew their fans would be upset. We can’t end it when just, like, five people watch it, like: ‘Why are they still here?’” Alfie replies in agreement, saying: “Part of me hopes we aren’t still posting videos in, like, 20, 15 years. Literally 😂 We’ve been ghosted, guys!” While another put it simply: “When they run out of money they’ll come back.” A source close to the couple has confirmed fans are also privately fuming about the unearthed clip. They said: “This just feels like a real slap in the face to the fans who supported Zoe and Alfie from day one. “They may feel like they have outgrown the vlogging thing, but that’s what has made them their fortune and bought them their massive house. “The least they could do is say a proper goodbye to their fans, not just disappear without a word. “It’s so disrespectful. Lots of the OG YouTubers have moved on to other things and other careers, but there are ways to close that chapter that don’t feel like you are doing your fans dirty.” The couple, who have been together since 2012, share daughters Ottilie, four, and Novie, two. It comes seven months after the internet personality known as Zoella quietly withdrew from social media, much to fans’ despair, with her last Instagram post dating back to January 1 this year. Like Zoe, Alfie has also reduced his online presence, having posted only occasionally this year. In June, Alfie submitted plans to transform a plot of land close to their £1.7million home in West Sussex into a donkey sanctuary. They’ve also been pictured with fans in their hometown of Brighton and were mentioned in a video shared by Zoe’s brother Joe when he welcomed his new baby. Many fans believe Zoe may have stepped back to protect her children from the limelight, a decision they say they would understand, but insist they now deserve an explanation after years of support.
