One of the biggest mechanics in Minecraft Dungeons 2 is the weapon system. You can choose from loads of weapons, from fast blades to heavy hammers, and depending on your play style, you can add a lot of variety to your gameplay. There are plenty of ranged weapons too, although not as many as melee. However, that diversity can also bring confusion. There are so many different weapons to choose from, and each can be a different weapon type. There are commons, rares, specials and uniques that all provide different buffs to combat, so making sure that your build works for you is a huge factor. Best Melee Weapons Melee weapons in the game can generally be divided by how fast you can hit. Usually, the faster ones don't hit as hard, and the slower ones deal more damage per hit. The main goal is to stay flexible with which weapons you choose, depending on the situation. There are significantly more melee weapons than ranged weapons, so it can take a little while to get used to which ones you like the most. Go through a couple of encounters, mix up the artifacts you have and you might find yourself drawn to different weapons than you expect. Wolf Claws The wolf claws essentially turn you into Wolverine, which feels fitting given Marvel's Wolverine's recent release. They're fun to use as they give you a few quick swipes on each enemy, but they have a solid spread, so they get a few secondary hits on adjacent enemies. The unique variant of them is the Sculker Claws. Meat Cleaver The Meat Cleaver is a surprisingly effective weapon, as you can get three quick and powerful swipes in rapid succession. It doesn't have the best range, but the speed makes up for that, letting you move in and out of combat quickly. It also has a good spread, meaning you'll hit multiple mobs at once. The unique version of it is the Cacaphonous Cleaver. Greataxe The Greataxe has a massive damage spread, allowing you to dive headfirst into a group of mobs and wear them all down at the same time. It's not very fast, but each hit certainly counts, especially when you have the right enchantment on it. The unique version of it is the Awesomeaxe. Battle Hammer The Battle Hammer gives you the power of Thor, except it doesn't have any of the Thunder powers (unless you enchant it with the Thundering book, which literally makes it Thor's hammer). It's strong and slow, but it's not the slowest melee weapon in the game. The unique version of it is the Emerald Hammer. Rapier The Rapier is one of the faster weapons in the game, dealing seven attacks in quick succession, with the last one ending the combo. It has decent range, but it doesn't do as well against larger groups of mobs. It's more of a precise weapon, which is pretty true to reality. Best Ranged Weapons Ranged weapons don't have as much variety as melee weapons, but the variety that is there is certainly enough to customize to any play style. Normal bows can be charged, while crossbows will shoot in succession as long as you hold the trigger. Rapid Crossbow The Rapid Crossbow isn't as powerful as some other bows in the game, but it lets you hold back larger groups of mobs at a time. It has 25 bolts, which is much more than the other options, giving you the flexibility to miss a few shots and still be okay. The unique version of it is The Cross Pollinator. Trickbow The Trickbow is one of the more useful ranged weapons because it will ricochet arrows between mobs. Once the arrow hits its mark, it changes direction to another mob, but if you enchant it with Piercing, that ricochet will travel through a group of mobs, dealing massive damage. Dual Crossbows The Dual Crossbows let you fire two shots back-to-back, although you don't get double arrows. The standard crossbow has 15 bolts and the dual ones have 20, so you get more, but not enough to throw them away. They're also great for dealing with larger groups of enemies. Powerbow The Powerbow is a great option because it benefits from being charged more than the other options. Even though it's slow and doesn't have many arrows, it's great for slow-moving enemies or bosses. It makes each shot count, even though you don't get many to waste.
