More importantly, he's still waiting for a new Ape Escape game to release. There's quite a lot to do in The Blood of Dawnwalker. Along with dismantling an oppressive vampire court, there are quite a few side quests you can partake in. Ranging from the mundane to lengthy journeys with romanacable NPCs, you can lose a lot of time trying to complete everything in the game. One of these side missions is Stronger Than Achilles, which becomes available after you investigate the monastery with Anca and complete the quest Where Old Devils Lie. Boasting a not insignificant choice at the end, here is everything you need to know about finishing this quest and what you should do with the Font of Life at the end. Stronger Than Achilles Walkthrough As stated before, this quest is available once you discover the actual temple during the Where Old Devils Lie quest. Once you've made your way into the temple where the Font of Life is, you'll need to complete three separate trials to gain access to this location. Keep in mind, this entire quest will cost you six segments of time, so plan accordingly before committing! To start, make your way down the stairs and follow the hallway. You'll be ambushed by a lone zombie, so dispatch it quickly and then enter the next room. Inside, there will be two more undead that you cannot avoid. Kill these zombies and don't worry about needing to defend Anca, as she is fully capable of handling these monsters on her own. Continue following the torches as they ignite until you enter another room with two zombies and two undead hounds. Kill all of them and progress through the halls until you reach a large circular room. Upon entering, Coen and Anca will be attacked by several Vidmos. These can be a bit troublesome in a group due to their mobility and aggression, so try to lean on Anca to pull some of the aggro away from you. Survive The Trial When they're dead, approach the statue in the middle of the room and interact with it. This will be your first trial, as you'll need to put your hand into the statue, which will heavily slash at your hand. You have the option to let Anca do this, but she will black out from the pain, and Coen will feel like a coward. Plus, sticking your hand into the statue causes no irreversible damage, so make sure you have some food to heal. Pick the following dialogue options when presented: "Alright... Wish me luck." [keep still] After Coen comes, make sure to eat some food before you continue, so your wounds from the trial will heal. Go through the newly opened door and head into the next room, which has, you guessed it, more zombies. Slay all the undead, go up the stairs on the right, and go through the door. Defeat The Fallen Hero Guarding the next door is the Fallen Hero mini-boss. Don't let his intimidating appearance fool you; this guy is really simple and doesn't have a ton of health. This boss will utilize a mix of horizontal or vertical sword strikes combined with a close-range, unblockable attack. The latter is the only move you really want to dodge since he swings with both swords in front of him. You can avoid this attack by dodging to either side, which will put you right next to the boss. This allows you to easily get a few free hits in on the boss before it faces you again. Just focus on parrying the boss's main sword swings, and you should have no issue cleaving through this enemy. Plus, Anca will assist you in combat, which can be pretty helpful. With the Fallen Hero dead, you'll encounter a massive hole that's blocking your path. This will trigger another cutscene where Anca reveals that she is planning to use the Font of Life on herself. The dialogue here is largely about whether you want to romance Anca or not, as you can admit that you love her near the end of the conversation. Cross the Gap Once you regain control of Coen, go to the right and jump across the gap to the central platform. Then follow the blood trail on the ground to the left, shimmy across the wall, and then jump across the gap to the stairs. Follow the path around the back of the room until you find a crack in the wall you can slip through. This will put you into a hallway, with some rubble at the end that you can clear so Anca can reunite with you. Go back down the hall with Anca and push the door open to find a hidden chamber. Inside, there will be a ton of paintings and sculptures you can interact with via your Focus Mode. When you're done exploring the room, head through the gap in the wall to the left. This will take you to a very boss-shaped room with a stone marker in the middle. Defeat The Guardians Of The Font To start, you will want to first approach the tablet and then perform an incantation to activate the pillar. Doing so will trigger the Guardians of the Font boss fight, which consists of several waves of ancient undead enemies. This battle is all about managing the number of zombies you are fighting at once, because there are a ton of them in this battle. Remember, Anca will also fight, so your goal is to use her to pull the attention of the horde while you focus on dealing with outliers. Ideally, you only want to fight 2–3 at a time. While their movements and attacks are slow, the sheer volume of undead warriors can easily overwhelm you. Sword moves such as the Broad Swing are great for this fight, as it will hit multiple enemies, allowing you to deal a lot of damage to several targets. Every undead warrior you kill will take a small chunk out of the boss's health bar. This first part is all a war of attrition, as you'll need to keep fighting the zombies until all of them have been vanquished. Once they're all dead, a bigger, stronger version of the warriors will emerge to challenge you. He has the same move set as the others, but will just hit considerably harder. Again, focus on just parrying his basic attacks and dodging to the side for his unblockable move. This isn't a tough boss at all, so make sure to play patiently and strike when you create an opening via your parries. Who Should Use The Font With the Guardians of the Font dead, enter through the newly opened doors to find the Font of Life. You will now be presented with three choices of what to do with the Font, each of which provides a different outcome. After you've inspected the two murals on the walls, you'll learn that the Font is fueled by blood and black magic. Conflicted, you will be given three options to pick from. Coen uses the Font: "If it's alright with you, I'll use it." If you decide to pick Coen to use the Font, you will unlock the Font of Life perk in the Witchcraft tree. With this unlocked, you will have passive health regeneration for the rest of the game during the daytime. There's no other way to obtain this perk, so if you want this, then make sure to use it at Coen. Anca uses the Font: "Go ahead. Make what you will with it." Picking this will cause Anca to drink from the Font instead. There are no gameplay benefits to selecting this, but you will get some unique cutscenes at the end of the game during the epilogue. No one uses the Font: "We should just destroy it." The final option is to destroy the Font so no one can use it. Doing this will give you the legendary heavy trousers, Ancient Greaves. These have a high armor stat, boost your Witchcraft damage, give you activation recharge on block, passive activation charge, and magical damage reduction. You cannot get this legendary armor piece any other way. While there is no "bad" option here, I recommend either having Coen drink the Font or destroying it. The latter is better in the long run, since the Ancient Greaves are exceptionally strong (especially for an activation charge build) and provide some great protection. Regardless of what you pick, you'll eventually go back to the inn where you can finalize your romance with Anca if you want to make her Coen's partner.
