While not necessary, these gadgets can often save your Samurai hide and, if you use them right, they can help make short work of some tough enemies. We had a lot of fun using and experimenting with armaments, and they definitely spiced up the combat a fair bit. With that said, most of these armaments are, technically, missable. Don't worry, you can still go back and get them. Most of these you get during the main story, but just in case you missed one, here's our guide to help you get them. The Two Celestials Location Location: Koizume-dera Temple — (In one of the rooms where you take out the red Genma vine) Use: Damages health and releases yellow souls Unmissable. This is the first armament you get in the game and with it, you learn how to build up the armament bar. The Two Celestials is essentially just a strong attack that's over before you know it. Quite honestly, we never used this one as soon as we got a better armament, and we assume you probably won't either. Still, if you need an armament that can heal you (because of the yellow souls), this might come in handy. Wind Whipper Location Location: Takamura's Training Ground (Well) — Obtained automatically after finishing the first drill Use: Damages all enemies around you Unmissable. Pretty early in the story, Takamura will show you the training grounds and award you with the Wind Whipper as soon as you clear the first drill (the one where you learn how to deflect). Unlike the Two Celestials, we used the Wind Whipper occasionally. While the damage isn't great, this can be quite handy when you are surrounded by a bunch of weaker enemies that you can't be bothered dealing with. Even better, if there is a fire source around you, use the Wind Whipper and suddenly there is a firestorm that will also burn your enemies. Earth Shakers Location Location: Underground Laboratory, Underground Level 4 (Dokyo's Lair) — In a chest after the spinning fans section Use: Damages enemy's stamina Pretty hard to miss. During the Underground Laboratory section (the part of the game that feels like Resident Evil), and shortly after the Mask Puzzle section, you'll be in a circular room where the giant spinning fan slowly descends from the ceiling to slice you. After you deal with the fan, in the very next room, there is a chest with the Earth Shakers. These were our absolute favorite armament during the entire game. They don't do damage to the enemy's health, but they absolutely destroy their stamina. We even used this one in the final boss fight. Firebird Flute Location Location: Eastern Kyoto (southern part of the map) — During the Shadows Fall quest after absorbing a Genma Rift Use: Throws up to three burning disks at enemies Pretty hard to miss. When you start the Shadows Fall quest you'll have to close two Genma rifts. One is on the west side and the other is on the very bottom (south) of Eastern Kyoto. Once you drain the Genma rift in the south section, a Genma gate will disappear which guards a chest with the Firebird Flute, so just grab it. The Firebird Flute is very... situational. On one hand, it burns enemies, but it does very little damage in doing so. You can hit up to three enemies like this. Additionally, if you upgrade the Firebird Flute, you can charge it (which uses up all three discs) and hit one enemy hard, which can also cause splash damage. As fun as it is, we didn't use this much, other than to hit archers for which we didn't want to draw our Oni Bow. The Flashing Void Location Location: Mount Oe — In a cave near the Castle Entrance Spirit Mirror Use: Charges and damages the enemy's health by a lot Easy to miss. While going through "The Demon on the Mount" quest, there will be a cave pretty near one of the Spirit Mirrors. It's easier to see if you're looking at your map. Squeeze inside the cave, loot the chest and get this cool spear armament. This is another useful armament. You simply charge it a little and stab an opponent, taking a good chunk of their health away. We used this one to deal with tougher enemies and occasionally with bosses. It's a great solution for those tougher (non-boss) enemies that are annoying to fight. Still Water Location Location: Arashiyama Swamp — In a cave north of the Spirit Mirror Use: Charges up your regular sword attacks and releases purple souls Extremely easy to miss. While going through Arashiyama's swamp, which is already confusing enough, you can easily miss a malice-covered cave that leads to this armament. We missed it, if we're being honest, and got it after we finished the game. We're sad we missed this one because it could have come in handy. This is the armament for those players that never use armaments. Still Water simply powers your sword attacks for a while and, as a bonus, releases purple souls which power up your Oni Awakening bar. Just like with Oni Awakening, once you see the armament bar is about to deplete, you can use the rest of it for a special super-strong attack. Don't miss out on Still Water like we did.
