What role does the White House Press Secretary play in the Trump era?

Adm. John Kirby, who previously served as a spokesperson in the Obama and Biden administrations, explains how the role of the White House Press Secretary has evolved under Trump. Unlike past administrations, the Trump era has seen the press secretary take on a more combative and defensive role, often acting as a counter to criticism rather than just a conduit for information. This shift underscores the administration's approach to media relations, highlighting how the press secretary functions as a key player in shaping the narrative and managing public perception.
