Wednesday Season 3's "Phenomenal" Netflix Return Teased By Catherine Zeta-Jones

Published Oct 11, 2026, 1:29 PM EDT EXCLUSIVE: Wednesday season 3 is expected to hit Netflix sometime next year, and as fans of the creepy and kooky Addams family await the new episodes, Morticia actress Catherine Zeta-Jones has teased a "phenomenal" upcoming season. Wednesday first hit Netflix in 2022, and it didn't take long for this new take on the fan-favorite spooky story to become a smash hit. Be it Jenna Ortega's dry, sardonic depiction of the titular lead or the stunning visuals, this latest adaptation of the Addams family proved to be incredibly popular in both seasons 1 and 2, the latter of which hit the streamer in 2025. Even with the three-year wait, audiences remained dedicated to the show and enthusiastic about finding out what would happen next, and the same is true of the upcoming third season. Already, it's been confirmed that Wednesday season 3 wrapped filming last month, getting audiences excited for the impending release. As of now, there's no official release date confirmed, despite plenty of speculation that the new episodes will drop in May or June of next year. As fans of the show wait for that announcement, however, Zeta-Jones has provided the positive update they've been waiting for. In an interview with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley for Kill Jackie at NYCC, Zeta-Jones both confirmed that filming has now concluded on the upcoming season and, in addition to joking that she "like[s] the crazy Catherine," teased a bit about what is to come. Back from shooting seven months of Wednesday season 3, which is going to be phenomenal. Looking forward to everyone getting to see that. It's a complete 360 now with me doing [Kill] Jackie. So I hope people can really enjoy both in a different way. While Zeta-Jones expertly kept any concrete plot details about Wednesday season 3 under wraps, this is an exciting update on the episodes to come, about which audiences otherwise know fairly little. Thus far, it has been confirmed that this new season will take place during Wednesday's senior year at Nevermore Academy. Additionally, Ortega previously shared that season 3 will include "confrontational feelings regarding family." Viewers have already gotten to see some serious tensions within the Addams family in the first two seasons, particularly between Wednesday and Morticia, although the mother-daughter duo had found some greater understanding of one another by the end of season 2. Perhaps with Ortega's description of the episodes to come, season 3 might see that newfound understanding shaken to a degree, or maybe the tensions have now moved on to other Addams family members. Wednesday fans also don't currently know whether season 3 will be the show's last, and it's possible that those decisions haven't actually been made yet. This only adds to the anticipation over the third season, as many are hoping that there is some sort of indication by the season's conclusion as to whether Wednesday's story will end here. After all, with the new season marking her senior year, it seems quite possible that this is in fact the end. That's far from confirmed, though, and plenty of hope remains about a potential Wednesday season 4, even before season 3 has been released. Undoubtedly, viewers are more than eager to finally get this next installment, but as that wait continues, Zeta-Jones has at least given fans a very positive update on these upcoming new episodes. Seasons 1 and 2 of Wednesday are now streaming on Netflix, with season 3 expected sometime next year.
