Illustration by Cheng Xin/Getty Images Personal AI agents, the buzzy new thing in tech, are attracting users of all stripes.While agents were previously limited largely to more tech-oriented crowds, the release of Meta's Muse app earlier this month shot the tech squarely into the mainstream.Apptopia, a market intelligence platform, estimated that Muse received 1.8 million downloads on the App Store in the first 12 days after its release.Instinct, a personal AI agent released by an independent startup in August, has also become popular with users both in and outside the tech world.The agents work by accessing a user's emails, texts, calendar, bank account, and anything else you log into. With Instinct, users can "text" the agent in the iMessage app, and the agent responds almost immediately.Some might understandably worry about AI agents exercising so much unsupervised control over their lives. Many of those already using the tools, however, say they are excited to have a machine do tasks for them.Is your mother suddenly taken with her new agent? Does dad refuse to use the tech?
