Netflix just added a 10-part action masterpiece with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, making it one of the best new series to binge-watch this week. Released in 2019 on YouTube Premium, the original series was created by Shawn Simmons (The Continental) and executive produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the writers behind violent action comedy hits like Deadpool and Zombieland. Even with its 100% Rotten Tomatoes score and 96% audience score, the series was canceled after one season and just hit Netflix for the very first time. Wayne is now streaming on Netflix after it was officially added on Monday, October 12, 2026. While the acclaimed hidden gem series was accessible on Prime Video for a while, Wayne has never been available on Netflix until this week, making it one of the most exciting new streaming additions on the platform right now. The dark comedy action thriller follows the titular protagonist Wayne, played by Mark McKenna (Sing Street), a teenager who travels from Boston to Florida to retrieve a classic muscle car that was stolen from his late father. Wayne’s 10 Short Episodes Make It One Of Netflix’s Easiest New Action Binges YouTube Premium Wayne consists of only 10 episodes, each 30–35 minutes long, making it one of the easiest new action comedy series to binge on Netflix. With a total runtime of roughly 5.5 hours, viewers should have no issue starting and finishing Wayne by the end of the week in just a few sittings. Although Wayne has coming-of-age, comedy, and psychological drama elements, it is primarily an action series, which is perfect for fans of projects like The Boys and Kick-Ass. Its overall aesthetic can best be described as John Wick meets Baby Driver. Wayne is like a much more violent and action-packed version of Netflix's popular series I'm Thinking Of Ending Things and The End of The F***ing World, which both also share the common storyline of two teenagers on an ambitious road trip across America. Wayne is joined on his cross-country journey by Ciara Bravo's Delilah, or Del, after he convinces her to help him retrieve his father's 1979 Trans Am from his mom's abusive boyfriend in Florida. They embark on a beat-up dirt bike from Massachusetts all while evading police and friends who try to save Wayne from his seemingly self-destructive path. YouTube Premium Wayne has received nothing but praise across the board from critics and audiences, which makes it quite remarkable that it was never renewed for a second season. In fact, the main reason why Wayne only has one season is that its platform, YouTube Premium, chose to pivot away from making high-budget scripted content and focus on creators and online influencer-based content instead. Wayne was one of the best proofs of concept for YouTube Premium to continue its expansion as a legitimate scripted-based streaming service, but sadly, it wasn't enough. Even though Wayne quickly moved to Prime Video in 2020, Amazon felt it had lost the momentum needed to greenlight a second season. Regardless of its stunted growth, Wayne, as it stands, is still a fantastic series that all fans of action comedies should check out, especially now that it is one of Netflix's newly added shows this week. Nerdist sums it up perfectly in their review, stating, "The writers of Deadpool produced one of the best TV shows of the decade and you've probably never seen it." Additionally, ScreenRant writes, "In short, Wayne is the rare kind of series that has the ability to grab you almost instantly and it doesn't let go for the entirety of its 10-episode run." Even seven years after its initial debut, Wayne still holds up as a modern action masterpiece that is officially one of Netflix's best new binges.
