The driver accused of leading police on a high-speed chase through Perth’s southern suburbs yesterday has been charged. The pursuit went horribly wrong when an 80-year-old male driver, turning from South Street in Leeming onto Beasley Road, was hit by an unmarked police car at around 10.45am. The front of his car was completely torn off, the impact of the collision sending his car’s engine flying 40 metres on the road. The elderly man remains in a critical but stable condition in Royal Perth Hospital this morning.
