US lost or damaged 81 aircraft in Iran war, Congress report estimates

At least 81 US military aircraft, including fighter jets and drones, have been lost or damaged during Operation Epic Fury, Washington’s military campaign against Iran, according to a report released Monday by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The nonpartisan agency estimated that the cost of aircraft losses stood between $1.9bn and $3.3bn as of 1 August. The report adds to the growing financial toll of the US-Israeli war on Iran, which began on 28 February and has continued into its eighth month without a lasting ceasefire.
