Police took suo motu cognisance of the incident and registered an FIR. Based on the video footage, police identified six youths and arrested them. According to the police, cases were registered under provisions relating to rioting, promoting enmity between groups and disturbing communal harmony.The six accused were subsequently made to issue a public apology.
