The conversation soon went viral.A 13 year old boy's exchange with Lakhimpuri Kheri DM went viral on social mediaA routine public grievance hearing in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri turned into a dramatic confrontation when a 13-year-old boy fearlessly challenged District Magistrate Anjani Kumar Singh, demanding immediate action over a family property dispute and questioning the administration's response. The Class 8 student, Amitabh Gupta, arrived alone at the district's Sampoorna Samadhan Diwas with an application seeking the removal of a lock allegedly placed on part of his family's jointly owned house by relatives. As the DM asked whether he had come alone, the boy confidently explained that his father suffers from mental illness, his mother works in homes to support the family, and repeated complaints had failed to bring relief. He said the locked portion of the house could be rented out, helping fund his and his sister's education. The exchange became increasingly intense when the boy repeatedly interrupted officials, insisting they should not merely promise action but ensure the lock was removed. When a police inspector assured him the matter would be resolved, Amitabh replied, "Don't say you will do it, do it quickly." The conversation took another dramatic turn when the DM advised the boy to focus on his studies. Amitabh responded that education required money and questioned how his family could afford books and other expenses when his mother earned only around Rs 3,000 a month. He also alleged that complaints submitted earlier had gone unheard and accused local officials of ignoring orders. The DM urged the boy to avoid making offensive remarks and reminded him that his priority should be education, while assuring him that his grievance would be examined. He directed the local police inspector to personally visit the spot and look into the dispute. - Endswith inputs from Abhishek VermaPublished On: Jul 19, 2026 09:13 IST
