United Airlines will expand its connectivity between Mexico and the United States with two new direct routes launching in late October, including Houston–Tuxtla Gutiérrez and Washington Dulles–Los Cabos. In addition to expanding flight options, the new routes align with the Tourism Ministry’s goal of connecting Mexican destinations to high-value source markets, diversifying arrival options for visitors, and driving economic benefits for host communities. The first direct US flight to Chiapas in a decade Starting Oct. 28, United will operate three weekly flights between the two destinations — on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays — using Embraer E175 aircraft. The flight will depart from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston at 9:50 a.m. and arrive in Tuxtla Gutiérrez’s Ángel Albino Corzo International Airport at 12:45 p.m. The return flight will take off from the Chiapas capital at 1:35 p.m. and land in Houston at 4:19 p.m. With this new service, Chiapas will regain a direct connection to the U.S. for the first time since 2013. The route will facilitate U.S. and international access to destinations in the southern state of Chiapas, such as San Cristóbal de las Casas, Palenque, Sumidero Canyon and the Lacandon Jungle. The departure flight will leave Washington Dulles at 8:30 a.m., arriving in Los Cabos at 12:08 p.m. The return flight will depart from San José del Cabo at 1:20 p.m. and arrive at Washington Dulles at 7:58 p.m. The route will strengthen Los Cabos’ air connectivity with the U.S. East Coast market — a key source of international tourists for the Baja California Sur destination. These new routes will join planned winter seasonal services, including Vancouver-Mazatlán with Air Canada and Puebla-Chicago O’Hare with Volaris.
