PM Modi made the remarks while inaugurating SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi on his birthday.At the 2026 BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India secured the unanimous adoption of the New Delhi Declaration following overnight negotiations aimed at resolving geopolitical gridlock between Iran and the United Arab Emirates.Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 76 on Referring to India's economic performance, PM Modi said the country's quarterly GDP report was released in September and that India recorded 7.8 per cent growth despite a challenging period.“India's quarterly GDP report was released in September itself, and even during this challenging period, India achieved 7.8 per cent growth,” PM Modi said.He also said Japan's credit rating agency upgraded India's sovereign rating during the same period, describing it as a significant development that came after nearly three decades, or around 35 years.“On one hand, India's economy is growing. On the other, the world's trust in India is also increasing,” PM Modi said.He pointed to the recently concluded BRICS Summit as another example of this growing international confidence in India. The summit concluded three days ago after India hosted the grouping in New Delhi.PM Modi also highlighted other developments that took place in September.“In this very month of September, exactly 10 days ago, the Global FinTech Fest took place in Mumbai. In it, discussions were held on inclusive finance through Agentic AI, tokenisation, and quantum technology,” he said.He further said that approximately 3,000 kilometres of the Dedicated Freight Corridor in India became fully operational during the same period.Reiterating India's economic growth, PM Modi said, “In this same time frame, in September itself, India's quarterly GDP report was released.
