Ulysses gets Siri AI support, customizable toolbars, project templates, more

Following the release of macOS 27 Golden Gate and iOS 27, Ulysses was updated with Siri AI support, a refreshed interface, customizable toolbars, project templates, and more. Here are the details. Ulysses adds support for Siri AI My first Ulysses note dates back to December 2016. Since then, I’ve used the app on my Mac nearly every single day. Whether I’m drafting an email, putting together podcast show notes, or writing a story for 9to5Mac and beyond, if it involves typing, I start in Ulysses. Over the past 10 years, it’s been interesting to watch Ulysses evolve, embracing new workflows and adapting to users’ needs without losing what makes it so great, at least for me: a plain writing app with excellent Markdown support and no distractions. In keeping with that approach, Ulysses was updated with support for iOS 27 and macOS 27. The update introduces Siri AI support (except for users in the EU), including onscreen awareness and a dedicated macOS toolbar button that brings up the new Siri AI interface for writing, rewriting, proofreading, and otherwise working with text. And speaking of the app’s toolbar, Ulysses now lets users fully customize it, with navigation buttons, blocks, spaces, suggestions, and more. The update also includes new group icons with much-requested pictograms, and improves accessibility support “when editing filter conditions and group icons.” Finally, in addition to visual tweaks that better match the look of iOS 27 and macOS 27, the update adds project templates. Here’s Ulysses: When creating a new project, you can now select a template, so projects start with a couple of dummy groups and sheets.
