Ukrainian Combat Medics Show Sweden How Drones Save Lives

The independent military issues outlet Defence Blog carried a story on Sunday, Sept. 20, reporting on an exchange visit made by combat medics from Ukraine’s 1st Separate Medical Battalion with their counterparts in the Swedish Armed Forces’ Livgardet (Lifeguards) regiment, said to be one of the world’s oldest military formations. The article cited Livgardet’s Facebook page along with the LinkedIn page of Kostyantyn Hushcha, the CEO of the Ukrainian company AIDronesUA. Ukrainian combat medics have developed a long-standing relationship with their Swedish military counterparts. On this occasion, the Ukrainians brought with them the AIDrones UA MAUL armored unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). They used it to illustrate how UGVs, ground drones, have revolutionized the unit’s ability to reach and recover casualties from the battlefield, particularly from within the so-called “kill zone” – the corridor that separates the front lines where weapon strikes, particularly drones, make evacuation impossible. The 1st Separate Medical Battalion has extensive experience in the treatment and medical evacuation of casualties near the front line. Asan Charuhov, the battalion commander, is quoted as telling Livgardet: “Ultimately, it is about saving lives.
