UK advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia

The United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has advised British citizens against all but essential travel to all of Saudi Arabia. Its earlier warning extended to specified regions and cities. The latest warning issued on Friday maintained the warning against all travel to within 10km of the border with Yemen. "There is a heightened threat against airports, Saudi military and defence buildings, military bases, ports and energy infrastructure across Saudi Arabia, including Abha, Jizan, Najran, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Yanbu, as well as shipping in the Red Sea. Further attacks against airports as well as disruption and cancellations are very likely," the warning read. It advised British nationals to stay away from Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport until it was secure. Those wishing to leave the kingdom should consider travelling overland to a neighbouring country and flying from there, it said. #SaudiArabia FCDO now advises against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia and continues to advise against all travel to within 10km of the border with Yemen https://t.co/WRajquctzG https://t.co/ltuQXhAoOf — FCDO Travel Advice (@FCDOtravelGovUK) October 16, 2026
