The friends from South Bend, Indiana, were reported missing on September 13 after a night out celebrating Vanessa’s birthday. They were out with Vanessa’s cousin and two other friends. Her cousin was dropped home at 3.30am before Alexa and Vanessa headed to buy food. Their car was caught an hour later by a camera near relative’s home in Niles, according to the family. When neither returned home, a huge search effort was launched to find them. Most read in The Sun Cops scoured the area with K-9 teams and drones and the car containing the bodies was discovered eight hours into the search. It matched the description of the car Alexa was driving when the pair were last seen. Niles City Police Chief James Millin confirmed police believe the bodies belong to the two missing women. Cops think the women may have gone over an embankment and into the river. The police chief said: “I can confirm that there are two females in the vehicle, and by the clothing description we do believe it’s the women involved in this case.” He added: “How this happened, what exactly happened, is still under investigation. “It doesn’t stop here, we’ve already talked to the family, […] and as we told them, the investigation doesn’t end just because they’ve been located. “Now, our investigation will continue to try to identify exactly why this happened.” Comment now
