Two missiles struck close to the airport in Aden, the southern Yemeni city that serves as the temporary base of the internationally recognised government, according to police sources. Earlier today, Al Jazeera reported that blasts were heard across the city. The strikes come as fighting between government forces and the Houthis intensifies on several fronts, with both sides trading attacks since their conflict reignited in July. Government forces said they had “neutralised” more than 430 Houthi fighters over the past 24 hours. Military spokesperson Majed al-Nazili said government forces had taken key positions in Marib governorate and “continue to exert escalating operational pressure” on the southern and western fronts. “In Taiz, warplanes continue to launch precision strikes that have decimated militia reinforcement convoys and combat formations,” he added.
