The actor was left breathless and bloody after being assaulted by masked thieves, who stole his watch before running off. Keegan, 37, best known for playing Toby Cavanaugh for seven seasons of the Freeform drama series, filmed the immediate aftermath of the terrifying incident, blood pouring down his face. ‘I was just robbed of my watch outside of Laurel Supply,’ he pants, then asks someone off-camera to call the police. He inserted CCTV clips of the harrowing encounter outside the grocery store, showing two disguised men trapping him against his car door while pointing a gun and a knife at him. As he takes off his watch and holds up his hands, as if to demonstrate that he will comply, one of the men hits him over the head twice before thumping him in the face and sprinting away, leaving Keegan on the ground. Dammit.’ He wrote in his Instagram caption to 8.2million followers: ‘West Hollywood is not safe anymore. ‘Robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint by two young men that threatened to KILL me over my watch and would have! God said no tonight. My life for a watch.’ He tagged Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass and California governor Gavin Newsom, concluding: ‘Let’s hope all these flock cameras that @karenbassla @gavinnewsom and everyone thinks will stop crime can find these very dangerous criminals. God bless’. There are an estimated 120,000 Flock surveillance cameras across the US. The installation of the automated cameras, which read registration plates, has sparked backlash, resulting in more than 100 cities rejecting them due to privacy and safety concerns. Following the attack on Keegan, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that officers responded to calls of a robbery at around 9.05pm. The victim sustained a laceration to his forehead,’ a police statement said. Keegan was medically assessed by the Los Angeles County Fire Department at the scene, but he was not taken to hospital, though he later replied to a comment confirming he sought treatment. Encouraged to ‘get checked out’, he responded: ‘I’m def confussed and at hospital’. Cops are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to help identify the attackers. Upon sharing his video, Keegan was inundated with messages of support. @momofmanyyyyyy was one of many so stunned by his bloodied appearance that they ‘thought [it] was for a movie’, to which Keegan replied, ‘real life unfortunately’. Keegan famously played Toby Cavanaugh, the love interest of Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario) in seven seasons of PLL (Picture: Disney General Entertainment Con) Also starring pictured cast members Tyler Blackburn and Sasha Pieterse, the teen drama series was hugely popular (Picture: Disney General Entertainment Con) ‘Hey, forget your watch, it can be replaced, you can’t! Glad you’re OK’, wrote @leebee72. Keegan replied: ‘The watch is a bummer but having a gun and knife in my face and then brutally hit across the face and head was so unnecessary’. When one person asked, ‘You already gave them the watch… why did they have to hit you?!’, he explained, ‘he was asking me to take off a bracelet I had, I was trying to tell him it’s not easy to take off and said “you can take it off” and he pistol whipped me’. Keegan, also a musician and photographer, made his television debut in PLL in the first season of PLL, portraying recurring character Toby, the love interest of main character Spencer Hastings (Troian Bellisario). Created by Marlene King, the award-winning teen drama was wildly popular and catapulted its stars to global fame. The core cast comprised a friendship group of Spencer (Troian), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Lucy Hale (Aria Montgomery), Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields), and Sasha Pieterse (Alison DiLaurentis), while other cast members included Janel Parrish, Ian Harding, Tyler Blackburn, Holly Marie Combs, Laura Leighton, and Chad Lowe. Its plot followed the best friends receiving threatening messages from an anonymous ‘A’, who torments them in the wake of the disappearance of their clique leader, Alison, with secrets, lies, and scandals galore exposed over the following years.
