Please try againImpact Award: For significant contributions, initiatives, or projects that demonstrate safety excellence or exceed regulatory compliance.Legacy Award: For sustained safety conscientiousness shown by individuals or organizations.Impact Safety Award 2026 Recipient: Matthew Monteith Matthew Monteith, Maintenance Supervisor with Cascades’ packaging and container manufacturing plant in St. Mary’s, Ontario, received the Impact Award for his outstanding leadership in advancing boiler safety and regulatory compliance at the facility.Following a TSSA inspection identifying a low-water cut-off system that did not operate as intended by the original equipment manufacturer, Matthew engaged specialists to conduct equipment audits and identify improvement opportunities to strengthen the site’s overall boiler program. He also established two dedicated boiler technician positions and arranged specialized training to ensure staff have the knowledge and skills required to operate and maintain the boilers safely.Kim Semper, TSSA’s Director of Boilers and Pressure Vessels and Operating Engineers Safety Program, says this reflects the values the Impact award is intended to recognize. “Matthew’s efforts have had a measurable impact on both safety and operations and exemplify what it means to go beyond compliance.
