US President Donald Trump has signed into law legislation extending existing US sanctions on Iran to 2031 and expanding sanctions, tariffs and other restrictions on Russia. A White House statement said the president signed Friday into law H.R. 5334, the “Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026,” which authorises and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs, and prohibitions on Russia and extends existing sanctions on Iran. The expiration date for Iran sanctions was 2026. Washington’s new and harsher sanctions have been described by Tehran as “economic terrorism”. Deceased senator Graham was a strong supporter and campaigner for US-Israeli war on Iran and Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza.
