Trump Has Just Given What Might Be His Most Unstable Interview Yet

5 min readTime's big interview with the president does not fill me with confidence as regards our nation's stability, or his own.Because I don't think anybody should be forced to bear fake news, constantly bad stories, because I've done great things. I mean, I've done Venezuela. I've done—I can name, I can name 100 great things I've done. I never get good press. I never get fair press. Doesn’t have to be good. All it has to be is fair. So at a certain point, you say, "What's the purpose of like this crazy Kaitlan Collins?" She's a very average person. She's the most unhappy young person I've ever seen. If I did something spectacular by any standard, and they would write about it, they will only write badly. Sometimes I'm amazed at how they can—you know, yesterday I got tremendous applause from massive crowds that came to Duncan. And I said to the people, "Don't feel bad tomorrow when you read that I got booed out of the place." I didn't get booed out of the place.I went to Tennessee. The crowd went wild. I went to, yesterday, to Chicago. Got the big golf tent. President’s coming. The crowd went absolutely wild. And I said—I didn’t want to make a big deal out of it but I just said a few words before the guy started playing. They asked me to make a speech. I said, "I'm not going to make a speech. I want to play golf." But I said to him—I mean, they had to stop the crowd from—they were going crazy, 100 percent. There was no negative number. Did anybody write anything negative about it? Check it out.If you think that the president and his interviewers are communicating across the barrier from two different realities, you're not alone.Which calls to mind a quote from our new Never Trump pal Karl Rove, who has not drawn a breath in his life in which he didn't do something to make politics worse. Back when President W. was riding high, author Ron Suskind published an interview with an unnamed White House aide, which is now almost universally understood to have been Rove.“The aide said that guys like me were ‘in what we call the reality-based community,’ which he defined as people who ‘believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.’ I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ‘That’s not the way the world really works anymore,’ he continued. ‘We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors … and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.'”How do you like the politics of "new realities" now, Turd Blossom? This guy is much better at creating them, and acting within them, than you ever were.We move on.I think I'll probably sit in the Situation Room and make an appropriate decision. My decisions are correct ones. I mean, look at our country. I was moving. This country is booming during a conflagration. You know, during—some people would say it's a war, some people would say it's not really a war. When we get a war this year—you know, nothing's happened for the last two weeks, right? And somebody drops a bomb, and nothing happens, and they drop a bomb. No, I think that you'll find out what I'm doing. The country is not "booming." It really is a war. We move on. Let's talk about artificial intelligence. It's not just AI. I mean, I don't call it AI anymore. I call it SI. President Xi agreed. We all agree. Super intelligence. It's not artificial intelligence because artificial intelligence is like CNN. It's fake. It's going to be super intelligence. Because it's much more accurate. It's going to be a group of very smart people that understand it, who will be advising me. But I will tell you right now, I'm not going to be easy because I'm not going to kill a thing based on phony threats. They said that our country was going to burn down because of global warming. Then they changed the name to climate change because global warming wasn't going. They said that we are going to have some of the most difficult times ever. Global warming turned out to be a hoax. Russia, Russia, Russia was a hoax. Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine. The whole country is based on fake stuff because these people have Trump derangement syndrome.I feel like I fell out of the car at the last turn.I have the highest of IQs. I have the highest. I'm fine, and I understand that stuff. You know, my uncle was at MIT for 41 years, and you know, I'm a—I believe in genetics, frankly, and I understand. I understand it much more than I think any president would, because I do have an ability on this. I have an ability on those things that were the new frontiers.Despite that, your poll numbers are a dog's breakfast. They're fake numbers. I would beat anybody running today by 20 points. Your numbers that you have are fake. The pollsters are corrupt. They're almost as corrupt as the writers. The rest of the transcribed interview is the president's raving about how much more beautiful the District has become under his improvements.I see the Secret Service looking, and I say, "What are you guys looking at?” “Sir, we think the Oval Office should be taken down, and we'll build a new one, sir.” I said, "My ass, you can’t build a new one. This is a special place.” The cabinet room too, which I also think—show them the cabinet room when they go out, okay. The cabinet room’s gorgeous. That was a mess. It was a disgusting mess. This whole place was a disgusting mess, and now it's perfect. But Joe didn't do it. Well, I hope I get a decent story. I don't think—you know, it's hard to get a good story. Every question's a hit. I don't know what the hell's wrong. This is an interesting paragraph in the transcript because other reporting has the president allegedly going into orbit at this point in the interview. From Raw Story:"You haven't asked me one fcking positive question, all of this. What about this? What about that? What about that? What about this? All negative. Why are you devoting all this time to the White House? You know how I do, I do that out of my back pocket. I pay for a lot of it, but I fix it because the White House should look like that. It shouldn’t look like—if you would have stood in that balcony and looked at that wall, half the wall was falling. It's actually dangerous. People are walking under, crap was falling off it all the time. Every time it rained, it was leaking, horrible."I feel like the country's roof is leaking very, very badly.
