Trump claims China’s Xi agrees that AI should now be called ‘Super Intelligence’

President Donald Trump said on Friday morning that Chinese President Xi Jinping agrees with him about renaming AI “super intelligence.” The president posted on Truth Social the day after Trump hosted Xi for a state dinner. “Very productive meeting with President Xi for both the U.S.A. and China,” the president said. “Tremendous things will be happening. Like almost everyone else, he seemed to like calling the poorly and inaccurately named Artificial Intelligence to a far more accurate and important name, SUPER INTELLIGENCE. That would be ‘SUPER!’”The president has so far rebuffed calls for Congress to place new regulations on AI, saying that “The only control or 'guardrails' that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades.” In response, he has attempted to rebrand AI as “super intelligence,” instructing diplomats at the State Department to brand AI under the new banner. During the official visit, Xi said that the United States and the People’s Republic of China “have the capability and responsibility to develop AI for good, and ensure that AI is always under human control, and serves the well-being of the people.” This is a breaking story.
