The LG Twins of the Korea Baseball Organization announced the signing of right-hander Tristan Beck to a one-year deal. He’s guaranteed $878K in the form of a $300K signing bonus and $578K salary. Beck was just released by the Giants on Monday as part of San Francisco’s culling of the 40-man roster. There’s a decent chance the Giants were going to outright him regardless, but it seems Beck’s camp requested an unconditional release so he could pursue the foreign opportunity. The Stanford product heads overseas for the first time after playing nine seasons in affiliated ball. A Braves draftee, Beck was traded to San Francisco for Mark Melancon while he was in A-ball. He reached the majors in 2023 and has been a low-leverage reliever for the last four seasons. Beck has been up and down from Triple-A throughout that stretch, exhausting three options years around a lengthy absence in 2024 related to an aneurysm in his upper arm. Beck had a decent rookie season, tossing 85 innings of 3.93 ERA ball. He barely pitched in ’24 because of the aneurysm and carries a 4.76 ERA with a modest 16% strikeout rate over the past two seasons. Beck fanned a quarter of opponents with a 4.54 ERA across 39 2/3 Triple-A frames this year. Although he’s primarily been a reliever since 2022, Beck will probably work out of the rotation in the KBO. He’ll lock in some guaranteed earnings rather than a likely minor league contract if he’d stayed in affiliated ball. View Comments (0)
