Travis Kelce finally opens up about Taylor Swift wedding. Here are four things we learnt

August 13, 2026 — 10:30amAfter weeks of keeping tight-lipped, Travis Kelce has finally opened up about his wedding to pop juggernaut Taylor Swift.The famous duo tied the knot on July 3, the day before America’s 250th birthday, at New York City’s Madison Square Garden (MSG). While a cavernous, window-less sports venue initially appeared a strange choice for the world’s most famous pop star, it proved ideal in terms of privacy. Despite the efforts of Swifties and the media, little was captured inside the venue, leaving most goings-on to the collective imagination. Though details are thin, here are four things we learnt.Best (and crazy) night of his lifeIt’s entirely unsurprising that the wedding – which some luxury event planners estimate could have cost anywhere between $US20-25 million ($28.3-$35.4 million) – was a lifetime highlight for Kelce.“The wedding was the best night of my life,” he told US media. “I appreciate everybody who came out and celebrated and had fun with us … It was a crazy night.”The couple wed at Madison Square Garden in New York City. After vows were exchanged, billboards outside lit up to announce the couple were now married.AP PhotoSaid “crazy” night consisted of a slew of A-list celebrities, many of whom were seen on their way to or entering the MSG, including Bradley Cooper, Zoë Kravitz, Hugh Grant, Chris Rock and Ethan Hawke, as well as models Gigi Hadid and Karlie Kloss. Even renowned film director Steven Spielberg was in attendance (a future Swift-Kelce wedding film, perchance?).Famous faces pervaded the ceremony and the reception too. Comedian and actor Adam Sandler officiated the wedding, and Swift’s longtime mentor Stevie Nicks sang. It’s also believed that Sir Paul McCartney and Tim McGraw performed, though, again, we’re still light on the details.Dream come trueThe MSG wasn’t only ideal for privacy, it was also apparently Kelce’s dream wedding location.“It was kind of cool to live out my childhood dream to be in that venue,” he said. “I can’t thank the owners of MSG enough for allowing us the opportunity to do that, knowing we wanted a private event.”Kelce has never played at MSG; however, Swift had already performed there eight times. She was also back in the stadium in June cheering on the Knicks during Game 4 of the NBA Finals – a game Kelce missed.“I always told myself I’d go for a playoff game when the Knicks were rocking, and my wife went when I was stuck in mini-camp,” Kelce said, referring to Swift as his wife publicly for the first time.AC was a mustIt was a hot day in New York City when the pair wed, reaching heights of about 37-38 degrees Celsius.Thankfully, guests like Graham Norton and Toni Collette didn’t melt inside the venue on the super hot day.Instagram Thankfully, it sounds like the MSG didn’t become an oven for guests, as Kelce joked the “AC was cooking” inside the venue.Silver lining in lossFor the first time in 10 seasons, the Kansas City Chiefs did not make the NFL playoffs last year. As disappointing as this would have been for Kelce – who at 36 has won three Super Bowl championships with his team – it became a silver lining.“The fact that we didn’t make the playoffs … I moved on pretty quick.”It’s safe to say he moved onto wedding planning, which made for a “fun off-season”. However, the newlywed said he was now ready to return to the field.“I have still got a lot of love for this game.
