Toxic box office Day 3: Yash's film nears Rs 200 crore mark; trails KGF 2

Yash's Toxic added Rs 26.60 crore nett on Day 3, pushing its India gross to Rs 197.70 crore. The film's India gross now stands at Rs 197.70 crore, while its India nett has reached Rs 165.35 crore. Overseas, it collected Rs 4 crore on Day 3, taking its overseas gross to Rs 23.75 crore and its worldwide gross to Rs 221.45 crore.Even with that total, Toxic continued to trail KGF: Chapter 2 over the first three days. Yash's earlier film had collected Rs 288.50 crore nett in India by the end of Day 3, compared with Toxic's Rs 165.35 crore, with the gap widening from Rs 14.90 crore on Day 1 to Rs 123.15 crore after three days.According to trade website Sacnilk, the film recorded an overall occupancy of 25.5% across 19,390 shows on Friday. Hindi contributed Rs 19.15 crore with 26% occupancy across 14,274 shows. Kannada brought in Rs 5 crore and recorded the highest occupancy among the languages at 37% across 1,363 shows. Telugu collected Rs 1.50 crore with 22% occupancy across 1,830 shows, Tamil earned Rs 0.75 crore with 16% occupancy across 1,632 shows, and Malayalam added Rs 0.20 crore with 24% occupancy across 291 shows.The slide from Day 1 to Day 3Toxic's Day 3 figure of Rs 26.60 crore was lower than its Day 2 collection of Rs 37.65 crore. On Thursday, the film had registered 26.6% occupancy across 22,629 shows. That itself had marked a steep fall from the opening day, when Toxic collected Rs 101.10 crore nett in India on Wednesday and posted 56.1% occupancy across 24,579 shows. With Rs 101.10 crore on Day 1, Rs 37.65 crore on Day 2 and Rs 26.60 crore on Day 3, the film's three-day India nett total stands at Rs 165.35 crore.Toxic vs KGF: Chapter 2The day-wise comparison with KGF: Chapter 2 shows that Toxic stayed closest on opening day before the gap widened sharply over the next two days. Toxic opened with Rs 101.10 crore, while KGF: Chapter 2 had recorded Rs 116 crore, leaving a difference of Rs 14.90 crore. On Day 2, Toxic collected Rs 37.65 crore against KGF: Chapter 2's Rs 90.50 crore, widening the gap to Rs 52.85 crore. Day 3 stretched that difference further. Toxic earned Rs 26.60 crore on Friday, while KGF: Chapter 2 had collected Rs 82 crore on its third day. That meant KGF: Chapter 2 was ahead by Rs 55.40 crore on Day 3 alone, or more than three times Toxic's Day 3 business. The film released in theatres in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and English. It has also been in the news for its intimate scenes and for sequences that appear to show women in a not-so-favourable light through imagery and dialogue.
