Top ten finishes for two Barbadians during 5K in Trinidad

Barbadian distance runner Carlie Robinson continued her build up to the Mizuno Half Marathon in Amsterdam on October 18, with a strong performance during the Venture Credit Union 5K in Trinidad on Sunday. The veteran competitor placed third in the women’s race, in a time of 18 minutes and 33 seconds. She held her own in a competitive women’s field, finishing behind Trinidad and Tobago’s Nyla Kerr who took first place in 17:48, and Alexia John, who was second in 17:52. Kerr, a standout middle-distance athlete, was Trinidad and Tobago’s 1500-metre gold medallist at the 2026 CARIFTA Games. In June of this year, Robinson notched a major career milestone by winning the CARICOM Chairman’s Cup Elite 10K title in Saint Lucia. The men’s race in Trinidad was won by Tafari Waldron in 14:30, followed by Kenya’s Alex Ekesa in 15:02 and Donnell Francis in 15:37. Barbadian Joshua Hunte was sixth overall in 16:25 and also captured an age-group prize. Robinson’s podium finish and Hunte’s strong showing provided a notable Barbadian presence at the Venture Credit Union 5K, highlighting the continued development and competitiveness of Barbados’ distance-running athletes on the regional circuit.
