Top 10 best-selling cars in August: Tata Punch leads, Maruti dominates list

August saw a closely fought battle for the top spot, with Tata Punch emerging as India's best-selling car, while Maruti Suzuki dominated the top 10 with six models.Tata Motors’ Punch emerged as the best-selling car in India in August, with 21,320 units sold, edging ahead of the Maruti Suzuki WagonR, which recorded sales of 20,180 units. The Maruti Suzuki Swift secured the third spot with 19,832 units.Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the list, accounting for six of the top 10 best-selling cars in the month. Apart from the WagonR and Swift, the automaker’s Fronx, Ertiga, Dzire and Baleno also featured among the country’s most popular models.The Maruti Suzuki Fronx ranked fourth with 18,730 units, followed closely by the Ertiga at 18,516 units. Tata Motors had another strong showing with the Nexon, which registered 18,431 units to take the sixth position.The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was just behind the Nexon, with 18,418 units sold in August. Hyundai’s Creta was the only model from the Korean automaker to make it into the top 10, finishing eighth with 16,288 units.
