Credit: Amazon/Lifehacker Table of Contents JBL’s Live 780NC over-ear headphones are down to $139.95 from $249.95, a $110 discount that brings them to their lowest price ever, according to price trackers. At this price, you’re getting a feature-rich pair of wireless headphones with active noise cancellation, high-resolution audio support, and battery life that can last through several days of commuting or work sessions. They’re designed for people who like to wear headphones for hours at a time, too, with adjustable metal sliders and earcups that pivot to fit comfortably around your head. The earcups also fold flat to make them easier to pack, although the included soft pouch offers less protection in a bag than a hard case would. Sound-wise, its 40mm drivers deliver a wide frequency response of 10Hz to 40kHz, while Bluetooth 6.0 support, LDAC, and LE Audio give you options for high-quality wireless listening with compatible devices. The catch is that the default tuning pushes the bass a little too hard (according to this PCMag review), so you may want to spend some time adjusting the sound through JBL’s app—which includes a 10-band equalizer, preset profiles, personalized sound settings, and virtual spatial audio, letting you tailor the listening experience to your preferences. What do you think so far? You also get Bluetooth multipoint for connecting two devices at once, plus a proximity sensor that pauses playback when you remove the headphones. Physical controls handle power, pairing, and volume, while a touch-sensitive surface lets you manage playback and call up your phone’s voice assistant. As for its battery life, JBL claims up to 80 hours of playback with active noise cancellation turned off, or up to 50 hours with ANC enabled. That should be plenty for long-haul flights, extended workdays, or several commutes between charges, although the noise cancellation itself isn’t quite as effective as what you’ll find on some higher-end competitors. The headphones also lack water and sweat resistance, so they’re not the best choice for workouts or rainy commutes.
