The Tears of the Kingdom Pro Controller is pretty easy on the eyes, too Image: Nintendo Sign in to your Polygon.com account During its September reveal of the first gameplay footage of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake, Nintendo also announced a special edition Switch 2 console and Pro Controller. Both the console and the controller have consistently been sold out at all major retailers ever since. If you're tired of playing the waiting game, Amazon-owned retailer Woot is selling 2023's Switch 1 Pro Controller with designs inspired by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $69.99 until midnight E.T. on Oct. 5. (It's also available at GameStop for $69.99 at the time of this writing, though that's subject to change.) Nintendo's website shows an asking price of $74.99 for the Tears of the Kingdom controller. It's currently sold out at Nintendo's online store, though. There has been some confusion online about the price. The Switch 2 Pro Controller currently retails for $89.99, but the Tears of the Kingdom controller is an older, Switch 1 model. Though they look similar, there are a couple of differences worth noting between the Switch 1 and Switch 2 Pro Controllers. The Switch 2 version, and the Ocarina of Time variant, includes a 3.5mm headphone jack, programmable back buttons (GL/GR), upgraded rumble features, and a dedicated C button for GameChat. If you don't care about any of that stuff, you'll probably be just fine with the older model. The newer Switch 2 version is black, gold and green. Meanwhile, the older one is black, gold, and white. The gold Zonai designs on the older model are more subdued, whereas the newer edition is a bit flashier with its metallic, Triforce-inspired embellishments. While the extent of the discount on the Tears of the Kingdom controller is debatable, at $69.99 it's unquestionably cheaper than the Ocarina controllers, which cost $99 for the handset alone or $109 for a version that also includes a display stand. What's more, many retailers are also sold out of the Tears of the Kingdom version, or only have resale units priced at well over $100. Still, if you're looking to add an embellished controller to your Switch 2 setup and don't want to pay more than retail, this is a solid option. If you prefer to wait for the Ocarina Pro Controller, you can download the Nintendo Store app and get notified when it's back in stock. The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time will be released on Nov. 5, exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2.
