What many people forget, is that before it was an award-winning video game series, The Witcher franchise began its life as a book series by author Andrzej Sapkowski. It was way back in 1986 that the character of Geralt of Rivia was first introduced after Sapkowski won a short story contest and then, in 1993, The Last Wish was first published in Polish, before finally being translated to English in 2007. Whilst the video game series has taken inspiration from the original source material, it is not an exact copy, but The Witcher 3: The Last Wish aims to change that.
