Of course, on PC, mods offered an answer. And, in 2017, popular creator anakmonyet released 'Geralt Cloak', which has since amassed over 1 million downloads. Finally, over a decade later, console players have access to mods, and ArdCarraigh's simply-titled 'Hoods' has just been approved for the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 remaster. "Adds several head items to your game," the description explains. "Hoods, Capes, Hats, Scarves, Masks, all you need for customization! Dyeing and switching between hood up and down included. To use a dye, make sure to use it in the inventory and then apply it to the item you want. You can switch between hood-up and hood-down through the inventory menu." You can find a few hoods, capes, cloaks, and scarves at the very beginning of the game via Bram in White Orchard, and the mod itself is incredibly easy to install thanks to the new in-game menu. However, be warned, even installing a cosmetic mod like Hoods will disable achievements, so if you're going for Platinum or 100%, you'll have to do it without the hood. Clipping, Crashes, And No Achievements: What To Know Before Installing The mod itself actually went live on August 9, 2025, and has amassed over 82,000 downloads with a 99% overwhelmingly positive review score at the time of writing, but with the console launch, those numbers are quickly increasing. Today alone, it has already had 4,300 downloads. Though, of course, it isn't without problems. CDPR had good reason not to include cloaks and hoods back in 2015, and that's because they are a nightmare to juggle with all the in-game equipment strapped to Geralt's back. Weapons will occasionally clip through the cape, and the game also crashes if you toggle the hood down, which isn't ideal. Still, it's nice to have for cutscenes and photo mode, and it's pretty cool to say that PlayStation and Xbox players can bring the Killing Monsters trailer to life after 13 years.
