Created by Mike White, the hit HBO series returned for season 3 in early 2025, with a fourth outing confirmed to be on the way around the same time. The White Lotus season 4 cast has long been known, but the season has remained without a clear release timeline. In a recent interview with Deadline, Casey Bloys, chairman and CEO of HBO and Max Content, confirms that The White Lotus season 4 will premiere in the "First half of ’27." Though Bloys is careful not to reveal too much about what's coming in the new batch of episodes, he does tease that White has once again cooked up something special: Mike is the best, I love working with him, and I can’t wait for you to see what he’s been working on with this cast. There are always breakout characters, breakout stories. We are lucky to have Mike doing White Lotus for us. When asked if season 4 will feature any surprise appearances by characters from past seasons, Bloys plays his cards close to his chest. "There were a few nice surprises," he says. Following The White Lotus season 3 ending, season 4 is set to move the action from Thailand to France. The logline for the new season is as follows: In Cannes, two rival film teams descend upon the Cannes Film Festival with movies in competition and something to prove. One camps out at a flashy, palatial hotel on the Croisette, while the other is ensconced in a luxurious hilltop hideaway. As with past seasons, the cast for The White Lotus season 4 is set to feature some big names. Among those confirmed to appear in the new episodes are Laura Dern, Steve Coogan, Chris Messina, Alexander Ludwig, Kumail Nanjiani, Ben Kingsley, Max Minghella, and Vincent Cassel. Helena Bonham Carter was originally supposed to star in the season, but left only days into filming. “With filming just underway on Season 4 of The White Lotus, it had become apparent that the character which Mike White created for Helena Bonham Carter did not align once on set,” an HBO spokesperson told Deadline. “The role has subsequently been rethought, is being rewritten and will be recast in the coming weeks," the statement continued. Though Carter won't be appearing in season 4, the tease that a character or two from previous seasons could return could help to make up for this absence. Characters who have appeared in multiple seasons of the anthology series include Tanya McQuoid (Jennifer Coolidge), Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), and Belinda Lindsey (Natasha Rothwell), but it remains unclear who White will bring back next. With only a few months left in 2026, it likely won't be long before an official premiere date is revealed for The White Lotus season 3. Until then, there are sure to be plenty of theories regarding which fan-favorite characters might be making a comeback.
