MANILA, Philippines — On September 5, Vice President Sara Duterte posted bail in connection with the three counts of grave threats filed against her over her alleged assassination threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and former House speaker Martin Romualdez. Her lawyer, Paul Lawrence Lim, confirmed that Duterte posted P120,000 bail for each count of grave threat before Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 98. Lim said Duterte underwent the booking process inside the court, which includes taking of her fingerprints. On September 11, the Vice President showed up for her arraignment that the court later deferred following a motion filed by her lawyer. Meanwhile, Leyte 1st District Representative and former House speaker Martin Romualdez was arrested on September 7, over his P7.44-billion plunder case, but would remain in hospital confinement at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City. On September 11, the Sandiganbayan‘s 3rd Division ordered the transfer of Romualdez to the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital for an independent medical examination and then stay at the facility until further orders from the anti-graft court.
