‘The Walsh Sisters’ Are Coming Back: RTÉ & BBC Order Season 2 Of Comedy-Drama Based On Marian Keyes Novels

EXCLUSIVE: The Walsh Sisters are coming back. Irish pubcaster RTÉ has greenlit a Season 2, which the BBC will once again show in the UK. The new series, based on Marian Keyes’ novels, will stream on Stan in Australia. Peter Coonan (Bad Sisters) joins the Season 2 cast, as do Aislín McGuckin (Normal People), Art Campion (Blue Lights) and Fay Ripley (Cold Feet). As well as the Season 2 news, Deadline has the first pic from the new season, showing Caroline Menton (Oddity), Danielle Galligan (House of Guinness), Máiréad Tyers (Extraordinary), Stefanie Preissner (How to Adult) and Louisa Harland (Derry Girls) reprising their roles as the five sisters. As well as starring, Preissner adapts the Keyes’ books for TV. Aidan Quinn (Legends of the Fall) and Carrie Crowley (Hope Street) also return as the sisters’ parents. Watch on Deadline The comedy-drama will revisit the lives and travails of the eponymous sisters. Season 1 was well received, capturing the spirit of Keyes’ book series about the chaotic, dysfunctional, but lovable Dublin family, and meshing comedic moments with serious drama. With cameras rolling, we can share what fans of the show can expect from Season 2. Rachel steps outside the family bubble to navigate recovery on her own terms. Claire defies the traditional expectations placed on her as a mother, while Maggie’s quest to create the perfect family takes an unexpected turn. Helen becomes overprotective of her sisters while struggling with her own emotional wellbeing. Anna, meanwhile, will try some unusual methods to get over heartbreak. All the while, Daddy Walsh remains oblivious to the drama unfolding around him and is focused on landing a part in the local amateur dramatic musical.
