Sidharth Malhotra’s The Vvaan - Force of the Forrest opened ahead of Param Sundari and Marjaavaan on its first day, despite a modest overall start at the box office on Friday. The film, which stars Tamannaah Bhatia alongside Malhotra, began slowly in the morning but picked up through the day, with the strongest turnout coming in the night shows. Mumbai led the opening-day response, while other key markets showed a mixed trend.The film ranks among the stronger opening-day performers of Malhotra’s career, though it remains behind some of his biggest starts and has received a mixed critical response.Directed by Deepak Kumar, the film centres on a rational urban man who defies his ancestral village’s forbidden forest and awakens a divine goddess, forcing him to confront powers beyond logic as he becomes an unlikely saviour.On Day 1, The Vvaan - Force of the Forrest collected a nett Rs 8.00 crore across 6,746 shows. Its total India gross for the opening day stood at Rs 9.60 crore. The Hindi 2D version recorded an overall theatre occupancy of 28.25 per cent on Friday. The film opened with 12.23 per cent occupancy in the morning shows. This rose to 24.00 per cent in the afternoon, followed by 26.08 per cent in the evening. The highest occupancy came in the night shows at 41.46 per cent, indicating stronger spot bookings towards the end of the day.Mumbai registered the film’s strongest opening-day response, with an overall occupancy of 33.8 per cent across 491 shows. In the city, occupancy reached 43.0 per cent during the night shows. The National Capital Region, which had the highest number of shows at 783, posted an overall turnout of 28.3 per cent, rising from 16.0 per cent in the morning to 40.0 per cent by late evening. Ahmedabad remained behind with 14.0 per cent overall occupancy across 331 shows, after single-digit footfalls early in the day and a 28.0 per cent turnout in the night slot.Among Sidharth Malhotra’s openings With a Day 1 nett collection of Rs 8 crore in India, The Vvaan - Force of the Forrest registered the fourth-highest opening day of Sidharth Malhotra’s career. It opened below Ek Villain at Rs 16.70 crore, Brothers at Rs 15.21 crore and Thank God at Rs 8.10 crore. At the same time, it opened ahead of Student of the Year at Rs 7.48 crore, Param Sundari at Rs 7.37 crore and Marjaavaan at Rs 7.03 crore.More about the filmIndia Today gave the film 2 stars.
