Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t planning to apologize to Prince William and Kate Middleton over their bombshell 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview — despite reports claiming otherwise. “It is total rubbish,” royal journalist Tom Sykes told Page Six Wednesday regarding the rumors. The “Dukes” author noted that a source close to Harry dismissed the apology claims as “made up.” Meghan Markle and Prince Harry (seen here visiting the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia in April) are not planning to apologize to Prince William and Kate Middleton for their 2021 Oprah Winfrey interview. Getty Images “And I believe them,” Sykes said. “Harry has always said he will never apologize for anything.” The writer understands that, like the Duke of Sussex, the Duchess of Sussex also harbors zero regret over the explosive sit-down. Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield also stated that there’s no credibility to the fodder. “Prince Harry and Meghan remain defiant,” the “Kinsey Schofield Unfiltered” podcast host told Page Six Wednesday. “My own sources have told me this story is absolutely not true.” “If anything, the pattern has remained consistent,” she said, adding, “I would treat claims that they now regret Oprah and are preparing to ‘eat crow’ with serious skepticism.” Sykes said Harry (seen here with William, Markle and Middleton at Westminster Abbey in 2018) “will never apologize.” MEGA Kinsey Schofield also told Page Six that Markle and Harry (seen here with William and Middleton in 2018) “remain defiant.” AP On Tuesday, the Daily Express reported that the As Ever founder and Harry were planning to “express their regrets” to royal family members over their interview with Winfrey. “Harry and Meghan have always known since they decided to return to the UK that they would need to eat humble pie,” the source claimed to the outlet. “Their one big regret about leaving the royal family for the US was their interview with Oprah, and Meghan knows her biggest mistake was her claim that a royal family member had discussed Archie’s skin color,” the source continued. The report stated that Harry was “angry with his family at the time,” and that Markle supported his point of view. Markle (seen here with Harry during the 2021 interview) claimed that a royal family member expressed concerns over Archie’s skin color. AP “But they now realize what a low blow it was. They both know they’re hot-headed and realize they took things too far,” the Daily Express source claimed, adding that Markle and Harry’s long-term plans for returning to the UK include burying the hatchet with the Prince and Princess of Wales. “They want to focus on the future, and are hoping that will include a reconciliation at some point,” the insider said. “They really want a sit-down so they can address what they said, and Meghan will apologize.” In the infamous 2021 interview with Winfrey, Markle and Harry didn’t hold back as they aired family secrets in a two-hour CBS primetime special. Markle, who was pregnant with Prince Archie, 7, at the time of the sit-down, claimed that a member of the royal family had “several” conversations expressing concerns about their son’s skin color and “how dark his skin might be when he’s born.” She also claimed she was told Archie would not have a royal title and would not be entitled to security. A source told Daily Express that Markle and Harry (seen here with William and Middleton at a Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in 2019) were knew they “would need to eat humble pie” upon their UK return. Markle shared in the interview that she had experienced suicidal thoughts after joining the royal family. She also claimed that it was Middleton who made her cry during her wedding planning process and not the other way around. In 2020, Harry and Markle eventually made the decision to resign from their royal duties and live with Archie and their daughter, Lilibet, 5, in Montecito, California. Their relocation and their bombshell interviews ignited an ongoing feud with William and Middleton, and they have yet to make amends. In August, the couple shocked the world when they moved back to the UK after living in California for six years. AP Upon their return, King Charles III, 77, made a rare statement clarifying that his younger son and daughter-in-law remain private citizens and will not be taking on any official royal responsibilities. Since then, Markle, 45, and Harry, 42, have kept a low profile — though they have been spotted in a few low-key outings in the Cotswolds, where they are allegedly living at the moment. While Charles appears to be warming back up to Markle and Harry, William and Kate are still giving the Sussexes the cold shoulder. Community Guidelines Welcome to the Page Six Community!
