‘The Traveler Comes to Us’: Uber CEO Explains Break-Even Bet on Hotels

Skift Uber dominates rideshare, but it has slowly been pushing into other parts of the travel experience — namely, hotels. Uber announced the option to book hotels via its app in April through a partnership with Expedia. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said at the Skift Global Forum in New York City on Tuesday that adding hotels was part of a “generalized bet” on the direction of the travel industry. “When you look at Uber, because of our position and because we operate in 70+ countries, we're delivering in 100+ countries, the traveler comes to us,” he said.
