The last few days have really served as the culmination of months of speculation for The Legend of Zelda fans, as Nintendo finally confirmed everything they have planned to mark the franchise's 40th anniversary. That included a deep dive into the upcoming Ocarina of Time remake, and a further look at what we're going to get from the big budget movie adaptation. The community seems to have mixed feelings, on the former in particular, but there were plenty of other exciting announcements besides that drew plenty of praise. That included the long-rumored special edition version of the Switch 2 console, but there is another release that has the potential to be very popular with those who like collecting. Nintendo/Panini As first reported by GoNintendo, the developer confirmed the upcoming release of the Legend of Zelda: Master Collection trading card set in collaboration with Italian company, Panini, who are most well-known for manufacturing football stickers. The cards will feature artwork from games throughout the series, and there's even a special edition album that they're releasing alongside it, so you can keep everything you pull, fresh. It's worth noting that these cards don't look like they will contain any mechanics of gameplay, and they really are there to serve as collectors' items and ways to engage with the community, above all else. The screenshot shown features cards with classic Link, Zelda from Skyward Sword, Link from Tears of the Kingdom, and a scene from Ocarina of Time. Beyond that, they neglected to reveal anything else about the set, including a release date or how many different art cards there would be to collect. There were plenty of other physical products announced as part of the 40th anniversary swathe of releases. Those included a third release in conjunction with LEGO, officially titled Lego The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Link & Epona. The set is planned for release in Spring 2027, and will clock in at 1,750 pieces, which roughly puts it in the middle of the preceding two sets in terms of size. There are also two amiibos on the way to accompany the release of Ocarina of Time, with the Young Link and Young Zelda figures only given a vague release window of 2027 at this juncture. Both are rendered in the new art style that the game is made in, which may or may not be a good thing depending on how you feel about the gameplay reveal. Nintendo's efforts to mark the occasion of Zelda's 40th anniversary might not have hit all the high points for fans, but it's still a monumental achievement that's well worth celebrating. Let's just hope the Ocarina of Time release is fun to play, and that should tide us over until we hear more about the next main game in the series.
