Precious metals and black leather straps were back on the menu while toolsy complications like chronographs were traded out for perpetual calendars and moon phases. What I enjoyed the most about this particular showing of watches at the Emmy Awards 2026 is the variety. There were plenty of dress watches, but each differentiated itself in its own way. These are my 12 favorite pieces, starting with the biggest winner of the night.Matthew Rhys's Hublot Classic FusionI’m not sure what is more surprising: people not predicting that the Welsh heartthrob would clean up at the Emmys—both his performances in Widow’s Bay and Beast In Me were 10/10—or the fact he chose to wear a bejewelled Hublot Classic Fusion on his big night. You have to respect the wrist check—the flashy and sporty Hublot is a dark horse in the dress watch category—and switching out the usual rubber strap for a black leather one was a nice touch.Paul Anthony Kelly's Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Moon Phase Retrograde DatePAK was one of many Hollywood stars to enjoy a bit of US Open tennis last week, but now it's back to the business of looking really hot on red carpets. He does so rocking the king of dress watches: a pink-gold Patrimony in 42.5mm, no notes.Charles Melton's Cartier Tank Louis CartierA Cartier Tank, but make it sparkle. You never quite know what Melton is going to rock up wearing, but on his wrist he’s quite predictable. Teeny-tiny Cartiers are his thing, but credit to him for choosing one that surprised me more than usual.Thomas Doherty's TAG Heuer Carrera AstronomerExtra brownie points to our Gossip Girl reboot guy here for finding the time to swap out a bracelet for a black strap on his TAG Heuer. It pushes a piece on the edge of the sport-dress precipice firmly into the latter territory. The Carrera is typically a race-ready piece with a chronograph but swapping that function out for TAG's take on the moonphase makes it fit right in on the red carpet.Jon Hamm's Panerai Radiomir Perpetual CalendarThis might be my favorite watch of the night: a brooding hunk of a timepiece, just like its owner. If you are a Panerai guy, you’re 100% locked in and probably not looking around to see what everyone is packing.Zendaya's Rolex Lady-DatejustShoutout to Zendaya for finding a watch to seamlessly match her dress. This ain’t no ordinary Lady-Datejust 28mm—there are 44 cut diamonds on the bezel, 596 on the bracelet, and we’ve lost count of how many are on the dial. I can't see Tom wearing this one.Patrick Ball's Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual CalendarThe Pitt actor showed up in a complicated-but-classy AP. If you’re going to wear a sports bracelet with black tie, attention turns to the dial. There’s a lot going on, but the tapisserie finish undergirding the enormously complex perpetual calendar function makes this a clean fit with Ball's tux.Mark Ronson's Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Selfwinding 41Ronson's Royal Oak is a celebrity favorite. Bad Bunny debuted it when he won the Super Bowl earlier in the year. The malachite dial and yellow-gold case elevate the design to award-show status.Oscar Isaac's Audemars Piguet Code 11:59 Selfwinding TourbillonWhile AP's Royal Oaks can look great on the red carpet, the brand's Code 11:59 were born to be worn alongside a tux. Some AP lovers still have a bit of beef with this collection. Not this Beef actor, nope. The dial is so pared back there’s plenty of space to pop a flying tourbillon on.Noah Wyle's Cartier Tank à GuichetsAs if Wyle was bringing home enough hardware after leading The Pitt to numerous awards at the Emmys, he wore this hunk of gold on his wrist.Charlie Hunnam's Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Perpetual Calendar Ultra-ThinHunnam is a shoe-in for best dressed and The Monster: The Ed Gein Story star is packing some serious heat on his wrist too. Any Vacheron Constantin is a win in my eyes, but a skinny 36.5mm pink gold Traditionnelle sets an extremely high bar.Colman Domingo's Omega Speedmaster 38mmColman Domingo never wears just a standard Speedy. This brand-new version from Omega delivers a mother-of-pearl dial and diamond-set bezel.
