Thailand's King Rama X and Queen Suthida to make state visit to Vietnam

Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Queen Suthida Bajrasudha Bimalalakshana will pay a state visit to Vietnam from Sept. 14 to 16. The Foreign Ministry said in a Sept. 10 statement that the visit comes at the invitation of Party General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife.King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, known by his regnal name Rama X, took the throne in 2016 at the age of 64. He held a series of command and senior staff posts during his career in the Royal Thai Armed Forces.Vietnam and Thailand upgraded their ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership on May 16, 2025, and signed an action program covering the 2026-2031 period on May 28. Two-way trade reached US$22.1 billion in 2025, up 9% from a year earlier, and topped $15.03 billion in the first seven months of 2026.Thai investors hold 813 active projects in Vietnam worth more than $15.4 billion in registered capital, placing Thailand eighth among the 153 countries and territories with investments in the country and second among ASEAN sources.More than 660,300 Vietnamese travelers visited Thailand in 2025 and nearly 458,000 Thais came the other way. Twenty Vietnamese provinces and cities have signed cooperation or twinning agreements with Thai localities.Around 100,000 Vietnamese live in Thailand, and between 2,000 and 3,000 are studying or conducting research there.
