THIS is the moment a car crashes head-on into another vehicle after the driver lost control and veered into the opposing lane. Loveridge lost control of the car and veered into the wrong lane where he clipped one car and smashed head-first into Martin Howells’ vehicle. Newport Crown Court heard how Howells was left suffering from broken bones and fractures which left him out of work for months. He was left dealing with eight broken ribs, a broken nose, a detached bicep, injury to his left shoulder and a rotator cuff, and nerve damage to his neck and shoulder. In a victim personal statement read to the court, Howells said: “It was a horrific crash that has changed my life forever… I had difficulties with my fingers which has prevented me from playing guitar which is something I love to do. “I have been diagnosed with PTSD and underwent eight months of psychological therapy.” Most read in The Sun Howells added his injuries have left him with extreme weakness in his arms and is now permanently unable to lift anything above shoulder height. He said: “I was unable to sleep properly and woke up in the night thinking about what could have happened. I was unable to work for 10 months after the collision which had massive financial implications on my wife. “We had to take a pay holiday on our mortgage for six months and had to use our life savings to make ends meet. “We had to sell our family home where we have lived for 33 years and our children grew up in that house, we have lifelong memories there. We had to downsize to afford to carry on living.” Loveridge pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, possession with intent to supply a class B drug, being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and possession of criminal property. He was sentenced to five years in prison and was disqualified from driving for four years.
